Since I didn't see a section that Tire Talk would fit into, Suspension seemed like the logical choice since they are suspended...
No forum is complete without the ubiquitous "what tire is best" question.
I am not going to ask that question though. What I will do is throw out a couple of suggestions. I have run Dunlop GT501's on the original (AKA "the GoodAscot") since I replaced the original tires. I like them, but they are a little hard. I just put a set of Conti Go's! on the BadAscot and really like them. I don't have any idea how long they will last as I haven't put many mile on them yet. They do seem to be more sticky than the GT501's.
These are a new tire from Continental and I think that some of the tire makers are getting on the "old bike" bandwagon because Michelin introduced the Pilot Activ this year. I tried to order a set of these from Cycle Gear and the front one came in two days later, but the back one was going to be on backorder for 6 months...This was this spring, so they should actually be available now.
Not too many tires are available in 18 front and rear. What have you run??

I just replaced the badly dry rotted rear on mine with a Bridgestone Spitfire, can't comment much on it as I really haven't gotten to ride it, as I've had the front end tore down replacing the steering head bearings with tappered ones, and rebuilding the forks.....pluse I have all the body parts off at the paint shop (except the tank, which is perfect)

Hi,
Has anyone gone to a bigger back tire. What are the sizes of the stock tires (in the new numbers as I have the manuel with the 1984 numbers.)
